Amazing News from Last Youth Festival!

Tuesday, October 28th, 2008

Last weekend we brought our youth outreach to the town of “seribudolok”. A place desperately in need of the gospel. The youth there trying to fulfill their lives with alcohol and drugs. The whole place run by the gangsters. Preachers just 6 months ago were stoned and their houses torn down..

But we came to that place and we did not bring a message of condemnation.. we brought a message so simple. A message of a perfect love!!!  And all were hungry to hear it..

The 1st night of the event we had a nice clear night (which was an absolute miracle!) the field was completely covered in mud because it had been raining non-stop for weeks. The crowd gathered and as the night began I was completely overcome by joy! The 2nd song shout out “AllahKu Dasyat!!” (My God is Awesome!) and the whole place burst with joy leaping and shouting! At that moment I turned to some of my team and said ‘wow.. this moment right now makes all of this so worth it!”.. but that was nothing compared to what happened later!!!…..

After I finished giving a simple gospel message that night about Jesus being all we need I asked who wanted to receive Jesus into their life to raise their handI was so amazed.. not just 10’s but 100’s of hands flew high into the air before me! I almost felt overwhelmed as at that moment I got to pray with so many at one time to all accept and believe on Jesus!

The 2nd night it poured rain.. but we went on. And soon the rained settled down and even though the crowd was much smaller, only a few hundred people, but the impact was just as good! Those who came that night were all from the surrounding bars. The field reeked of alcohol so badly! It was completely full of drunk people.. but then something amazing happened.. those on the field were completely transformed as they heard the gospel that night! Herman shared his testimony of how all of his family had died.. leaving him behind totally mad at the world. But how the perfect love of Jesus Christ had found him and changed his life. I began to build on that.. describing what Jesus had done for us.. the amazing exchange He did.. all because of His love.

Even though our crowd was full of the drunks and the gangsters it was silent.. as each one intently listened to the gospel..letting each word pour into their hearts. Even though it started to rain we began to sing a worship song and they didn’t move..they didn’t walk away.. they began to raise their hands and worship Jesus!! I watched in awe.. my eyes filling with tears of joy.. totally in awe of Jesus at work on the field that night!!

The local youth I had been working with began to pray with them one by one. And took their names so they could follow them up.

Thank you for making this possible!!!

During this event I kept on saying something over and over again.. “I LOVE what I do!”
It was not easy to do this event.. but the outcome was incredible!
It is so awesome that we get to bring the gospel.. the light into these dark places!!
I don’t think I will ever be able to forget what happened on the field of seribudolok last weekend… And I can’t wait to bring this same power of the gospel to the next city!!

All praise to Jesus! The life transformer!!

What’s Happening

I’m sorry it’s been a while since I have written an update. Things have been incredibly busy..

To start things off.. I want to tell you about what will THIS week!

ANOTHER YOUTH FESTIVAL!

I’m so excited that on the 18th and 19th we will be taking over a soccer field in the center of the city ‘Seribudolok’.  When I heard that the last person who had gone there to preach had been stoned by the gangsters in the village and since then no one else will try to go in I knew this is where I needed to go! We need to bring the gospel to those who need it the most!! It is amazing the boldness that comes with the gospel. I am sure that this weekend will be huge success! As usual, we are not just aiming for 10’s of youth.. or even 100’s.. but our goal is reach 1,000’s!  We are determined that the youth of Indonesia must know the good news of Jesus!!

Your support is what makes this event possible!! Thank you for giving and praying!
